Privacy Policy

We collect the minimum necessary to run an email list and protect it from abuse: your email address if you subscribe, and your IP address for rate limiting and legal compliance. We use no analytics trackers, no advertising, and no non-essential cookies. We never sell your data.

• Email address — only if you choose to subscribe. Used solely to send the confirmation email and the updates you opted into.
• IP address — recorded at signup for rate limiting (to prevent abuse) and as part of the audit trail required for email compliance (CAN-SPAM).
• Signup source — which page a subscription came from (e.g. landing page or essay), to understand reach.

That is the complete list. We do not collect names, demographics, dietary preferences, political-leaning data, or any of the personal survey data associated with the underlying story.

• No analytics or tracking pixels. No Google Analytics.
• No advertising networks or third-party trackers.
• No cookies beyond what is strictly essential for the site to function. We do not use cookies to profile you.

We use Resend to deliver transactional email (confirmation and newsletter messages). Your email address is processed by Resend solely to deliver these messages. Our site and database are hosted on Railway, with Cloudflare providing CDN, DNS, and bot protection (Turnstile) for our forms.

Subscriptions use double opt-in: your address stays in a pending state until you click the confirmation link, and we only email confirmed subscribers. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. When you unsubscribe, we stop sending immediately.

We keep your email while you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we do not delete the row — we mark it as unsubscribed and retain it as a suppression and audit record, so we can honor your request not to be re-added and demonstrate compliance. You may request full deletion (see below).

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to its processing. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] from the address in question and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
